Maxey Consulting Group will offer internship programs in Healthcare Accounting, designed to provide the service member, with limited experience, an opportunity to gain broad exposure to skills necessary to be an effective accountant. Interns will get complete exposure of the business and will be trained to support our clients as staff accountants. The service member can expect to get on the job training, mentorships and the ability to shadow peers in a unique format designed to get the intern career ready in 6 months. Results of the program should result in the service member transitioning from the military to a civilian career with in-demand skills and experience. An official job offer is expected to be given to anyone who successfully completes the program.
Job description:
Successful complete of the internship program will lead to staff accountant jobs for those with some education and experience gained inside or outside of the program. For those with significate education and experience outside the internship program, a Sr. Accountant position may be offered.
Some of the task and skills the intern can expect to learn in the program include: Bank account reconciliations, entering of invoice in software, AP data entry, writing and processing checks, making accruals for invoices, correcting errors in data entry, learning revenue and expenses, learning healthcare payer types, Exporting and Importing files, making journal entries, learning AR and AP and the interactions between the balance sheet and profit and loss, running reports, learning short and long term assets and liabilities, understanding equity, setup amortization schedules, depreciate fixed assets, understand the necessary governmental reports to be filed, email, talk on phone, video chat and shadow and learn as much as possible from the owner and other co-workers.

Associated degree or some college in a business-related program. 6 - 12 months of accounting or back-office support.
