We use the time prior to their finite internship dates to complete our required HR processes that also include a 3 to 5 month (on average) full CBP Background Investigation (BI) that MUST be completed prior to internship start dates.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReceiving, investigating, examining and evaluating subpoenas, and other requests for Agency and personnel information from federal and state law enforcement agencies for possible disclosure in judicial proceedings. Compiling, organizing and analyzing documentary evidence of regulatory violations to be utilized by attorneys in administrative and judicial collection proceedings. Providing information and making recommendations in justifying the CBP's legal position in regard to legal challenges to Agency actions.Drafting and responding to discovery in labor and employment administrative proceedings and arbitrations. Performing basic legal research and draft memoranda summarizing findings. Obtaining, organizing, analyzing and recommending agency action with respect to matters relating to the Federal Tort Claims Act, Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act. Collecting facts from internal and external sources and assists with the preparation of litigation reports in connection with lawsuits filed against CBP. Compiling information for litigation holds.
