    Bureau of Land Management - National Interagency Fire Center. Serve as either a Telecommunications Specialist (0391), Telecommunications Apprentice (0392), or Telecommunications Intern (0399) within the Bureau of Land Management
    Job description:
    Provide Support for the Bureau of Land Management, in both day-to-day operations and emergency management through the successful operation and maintenance of a Radio Network. This work includes, but is not limited to: Clone and program handheld, mobile radios, and dispatch consoles; Troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems for users; Install basic hardware and delivers equipment to state and field offices for voice and data equipment installation; Work closely with the supervisor/higher graded specialist in inspecting and analyzing state, district, and field office radio systems to ensure they meet established standards; Assist the supervisor or higher graded specialist to determine the most effective and economical equipment and services; Follow simple operating procedures related to radio communications systems and microwave networks; Work on equipment moves and additions with vendors and/or customers and assist supervisor/higher graded specialist with installs, including vehicle radio equipment installation, and relocation of radio and digital interface equipment to meet urgent service needs when contractor services are not possible; Provide routine advice and guidance to customers requesting basic information on established procedures, including those related to very high frequency (VHF)/ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio operation; Provide telecommunication support for wildfire and prescribed fire incidents.
    Located at Bureau of Land Management - National Interagency Fire Center. U.S. Citizenship is required. You cannot hold an active real estate license; nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Lands. Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.
