ob Title: CNC MachinistDepartment: Manufacturing / ProductionReports To: Production Supervisor / Manufacturing ManagerPosition Overview: A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machinist operates and maintains CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders. The role involves setting up machines, adjusting parameters, and performing quality control checks to ensure high artistry, efficiency, and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Machine Operation:Operate CNC machines, including lathes, mills, grinders, and other automated equipment.Program CNC machines using G-code or programming software to execute the required cuts and operations.Select and install tooling, fixtures, and machine parts based on specific job requirements.Setup and Calibration:Set up machines for production runs by selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials.Ensure machines are properly calibrated and adjusted for optimal performance, such as alignment, tool height, and speed settings.Troubleshoot and resolve machine setup, operation, and tool wear issues.Quality Control:Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.Ensure the produced parts meet strict dimensional and quality specifications.Monitor the machines for any irregularities or errors during operation and make necessary adjustments.Maintenance and Safety:Perform routine machine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance (cleaning, lubricating, etc.).Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries during machining operations.Documentation and Reporting:Complete production reports and logs, documenting machine operations, run times, and material usage.Communicate any issues or delays to supervisors and assist in troubleshooting problems as needed.Keep records of machine settings, inspections, and quality checks for auditing purposes.Continuous Improvement:Suggest and implement improvements to machining processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.Participate in training to keep up-to-date with new technologies, tools, and methods.Skills & Qualifications:Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating CNC machinery (lathes, mills, etc.), reading blueprints, interpreting engineering drawings, and using precision measuring instruments.Programming Knowledge: Familiarity with CNC programming languages, likeG-code or M-code.Attention to Detail: High accuracy and precision are required in every step of the machining process.Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during machine operation.Mathematical Skills: Strong understanding of math concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, and basintroductorygebra.Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials, tools, or parts.Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other machinists, operators, and production staff.Education and Experience:Education: A high school diploma or GED is required, and a technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.Experience: 2-5 years of experience operating CNC machines in manufacturing (or completing an apprenticeship program).Work Environment:Typically works in a manufacturing or production facility and is exposed to noise, machine vibrations, and potentially hazardous equipment.Proper safety equipment, such as goggles, gloves, and hearing protection, must always be worn.Compensation:Salary or hourly wage based on experience and location.Benefits may include health insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, and opportunities for overtime.
