The intern will gain practical knowledge in various cybersecurity frameworks, network security, firewall management, and participate in security awareness training. They will build operational understanding of the corporate infrastructure and department, core network architecture principles, and receive SDN architecture training. They will develop core systems administration competencies across Windows Server and Linux, including Active Directory, troubleshooting, debugging, and Clevis & Tang NBDE concepts. Hands on networking experience with advanced enterprise topologies. The training will include Shuffle workflows, Ansible, GitLab automation, Power BI and M code, and introductory C and Python programming, along with Microsoft 365 DSC for configuration management. Security skills will grow through Microsoft 365 administration, Wazuh architecture, Authelia authentication control, vulnerability management platforms, logging technologies, incident response tooling, and foundational malware analysis. They will participate in enhancing customer-facing dashboards and reporting tools, join sales and customer delivery calls, and manage customer action items. During the final weeks, they will delve deeper into areas of interest, including working on projects, exploring security tools, participating in customer meetings, reviewing policies and procedures, conducting gap analyses, and setting up Microsoft 365 tenants for clients.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter that is passionate about cybersecurity with a strong desire to be an integral part of the team. The Automations Engineer Internship Program is designed to offer interns business and technical exposure to core elements of the cybersecurity discipline, including automating compliance audits; responding to security events; integrating security technologies across tools and platforms; and developing secure infrastructure to strengthen security operations and compliance management capabilities.
The intern will be provided with a laptop, dock, monitors, keyboard and mouse, camera, and headset for remote work. Most of the hands-on instruction and OJT will be through Microsoft Teams, although the opportunity for interacting on-site will present itself naturally. This is a remote position, but candidates must live in or near Dallas, TX or be willing to relocate if offered a permanent position.

To be considered for this internship, the candidate must be seeking an associate, bachelor, or master's degree in cybersecurity, computer engineering, or a related discipline, and have had exposure to core information security functions, including network and application vulnerability testing, role-based access control (RBAC), security information and event management, and/or computer incident management. To be successful, a candidate must have systems/security engineering, networking, and information technology experience and exposure to three or more of the following security technologies: Debian or Fedora-based operating systems; Familiarity with Git, SDLC, CICD processes; Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, etc.; Network Engineering, to include routing, switching, and firewall fundamentals; Proficient in ingesting security and system logs from disparate sources and formats, such as SNMP, syslog, etc.; Experience with managing and leveraging REST-based APIs.
