Summary description:
The “Adjunct Nursing Faculty Internship” training program is designed to prepare separating or retiring military registered nurses with master's or doctoral-level education for a civilian career in nursing education. Program applicants will engage in participative learning activities with advanced, prepared nurse educator mentors within academic and healthcare service educational settings. A variety of nurse educator internship areas will be available (theory / clinical / simulation/laboratory). Program Length - The adjunct nursing faculty internship program is a 100-day residency held over 5 months/20 weeks [Monday through Friday only]. The program length of training will reflect the Weber State University semester timeline of 14 weeks, plus 6 additional weeks for targeted nursing education orientation and training activities designed to prepare participants for a seamless transition into the nurse educator role. Days/Hours: Each week will run Monday through Friday and will be a 40-hour workweek. Face-to-face and online work hours will vary depending on the faculty mentor’s schedule and the nursing courses to which program participants are assigned (matched to each participant's nursing expertise).
Job description:
Nursing faculty members are responsible for instructional delivery, and are an integral part of the nursing student educational experience. Faculty members provide engaged instruction; develop/revise curricula; conduct program, course, and student outcomes assessment; direct and supervise educational activities in the classroom (face-to-face/online/virtual hybrid) and in clinical facilities. Nursing faculty members also advise and support students. Faculty members also engage in professional work which advances the university’s mission by participating in institutional advancement, professional development, and community service in the pursuit of excellence.Adjunct Nursing Faculty educator positions are available in both undergraduate and graduate programs. As outlined above, these positions may include both classroom and online instruction, as well as clinical/simulation/laboratory teaching.
