Become a Field Engineer at GE Vernova! Our 12-week program will allow transitioning service members to gain the skills and knowledge needed to join our workforce as a Field Engineer. The Field Engineer Intern will learn the fundamentals of FieldCore Turbine and Generator products under the guidance of experienced Field Engineers/Technical Field Advisors. This role will assist Resource and Event Managers on a variety of engineering projects of varying scope and complexities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Undergo interactive Web-based training to learn the fundamentals of Turbine and Generator product lines as well as completing the required environmental, health and safety trainings that are a pre-requisite to visiting customers’ sites. (1 week of onboarding training slated for September 7th, at our Houston location. After onboarding you will complete the duration of your training at your preferred location (4 choices)Develop skill in the use of FieldCore web-based technical applications. Learn the fundamentals of project management, scheduling, resource loading, and cost control to provide support to FieldCore Field Engineers with onsite project execution. Assist the Event Managers and Field Engineers with project pre-planning, execution, and post execution efforts such as, arranging subcontractors, expediting shop repair activities, facilitation of parts orders critical to outage fulfillment, and tracking / execution of customer warranty claims on assigned turbine/generator equipment. Assist the Event Managers with research projects and business simplification projects., Research and prepare engineering drawing packages and spare parts lists based on customers’ requests. Provide communications, remote, and on-site support to job sites and site teams to expedite parts, third party suppliers, subcontractors support, and other respective supporting resources, Gain familiarity and experience with maintenance / repairs of large frame size gas and/or steam turbines. Engage with functional support groups such as sourcing to expedite short notice purchases and goods shipment for overhaul jobs. Engage with Project controls advisors to learn project cost tracking, receiving, and invoicing practices. May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values. Core Technical SkillsMechanical & Electrical Aptitude: Hands-on experience with power generation equipment, turbine systems, generators, or heavy industrial machinery.Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: The ability to perform root cause analysis on complex systems under pressure is essential. Military experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on jet engines, shipboard engine rooms, or tactical power grids translates directly here.Safety Standards: You must have a "safety-first" mindset. Proficiency in LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), confined space entry, and PPE protocols is critical in a power plant environment.Technical Documentation: Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), schematics, and technical manuals. Soft SkillsAdaptability & Deployment Mindset: Field Engineering often involves significant travel and working at customer sites for weeks or months at a time. The military experience of "forward-deploying" and working in austere or challenging environments is a major asset.Leadership & Team Coordination: Field Engineers often act as the face of GE Vernova on-site, coordinating with contractors, customer plant operators, and GE technical support teams.Resilience: The ability to maintain composure and execute tasks systematically during equipment outages, emergencies, or high-stakes project deadlines. Common Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace) is standard. However, GE Vernova often considers candidates with equivalent military technical training (e.g., Navy Nuclear Program, Air Force Propulsion/Power Production, or Army Prime Power) combined with relevant field experience.Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy equipment, and work in various environmental conditions (high heat, noise, etc.).Documentation: Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, Excel,etc.), particularly for creating daily status reports, tracking project milestones, and logging technical data.If selected for a full time role after completion of training- note that this role will require 100% travel. You can live at any location, but will be expected to travel to onsite locations. Typical peak travel season is in the Spring and Winter.
