Fundamentals Flight Training is an FAA Part 141 flight training organization located at Erie International Airport in Erie, Pennsylvania. This Department of Defense SkillBridge opportunity is designed specifically for transitioning military aircraft maintenance personnel seeking careers in civilian aviation maintenance.SkillBridge participants will gain hands-on experience working in an FAA-regulated aviation environment assisting with aircraft inspections, maintenance coordination, logbook entries, parts and inventory management, aircraft servicing, maintenance tracking systems, and general aircraft maintenance operations. Participants will work alongside FAA-certified mechanics and aviation maintenance personnel and gain exposure to general aviation aircraft maintenance operations and regulatory compliance.This program is intended to help transitioning service members move into civilian aviation maintenance careers and pursue FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification where applicable.Military aircraft maintenance experience translates directly into civilian aviation maintenance careers, and this program is designed to provide that transition pathway.
Job description:
SkillBridge participants will assist with and gain experience in the following areas:• Aircraft maintenance coordination and scheduling• Aircraft inspections and maintenance tracking• Aircraft logbook documentation and maintenance records• Parts ordering, inventory management, and tool control• Aircraft servicing including oil changes, tire service, and general aircraft upkeep• Assisting FAA-certified mechanics with maintenance tasks and inspections• Maintenance planning and compliance with FAA regulations• Hangar operations and aircraft ground handling• Aviation safety procedures and safety management systems• General aviation maintenance operations and workflowParticipants will work directly with aviation maintenance personnel in a real-world FAA Part 141 flight training environment and gain experience applicable toward civilian aviation maintenance careers and FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification pathways.
This SkillBridge opportunity is intended to provide transitioning service members with hands-on aviation maintenance experience in an FAA-regulated environment and help bridge the gap between military aircraft maintenance experience and civilian aviation maintenance careers.
Eligibility factors:
All Services
Applicants should have military aircraft maintenance experience or related mechanical experience. Participants should have an interest in pursuing civilian aviation maintenance careers and FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification. Basic mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work in a hangar environment are preferred. Final participation is subject to SkillBridge approval through the service member’s command.
