This will allow the intern to explore and be evaluated for jobopportunities upon completion of the internship.
Job description:
The intern (Research Assistant) will join the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Alaska Centerfor Energy and Power (ACEP) team. During the internship, the mentor will identify growthpriorities, outline technical strategies, and oversee immersion in cyberphysical systems forapplied energy research projects. The intern will be embedded within the ACEP CyberPod teamand will collaborate with the ACEP Research Technology Infrastructure (RTI) team and the ACEPPower Systems Integration (PSI) research team on efforts to build up the ACEP CAMIO lab(Cyberphysical Advanced Metering Infrastructure for IT-OT) capacity to offer an operationalproxy environment for research development and testing of new technologies and explorationsinto modernizing and securing legacy IT systems using Zero Trust (ZT) and Zero Trust NetworkArchitecture (ZTNA) approaches.
This opportunity is for an in-person position with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, AlaskaCenter for Energy and Power, AK. The closest military installations are Fort Wainwright andEielson Air Force Base, respectively 20 and 35-minute drives. Intern must possess experience and competencies in IT systems, Linux, and networking.Preference will be given to UAF undergraduate and graduate students with experience andbackgrounds that align with one of the ACEP focus areas. The intern must be able to pass abackground check.
