Construction laborers perform tasks that require considerable manual labor. They may operate hand and power tools of all types, clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble and debris. Laborers also assist carpenters and superintendents.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and requirements identified herein are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Unload and move materials, cabinets and appliances into appropriate units• Assist in building of concrete block retaining walls • Apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatings• Climb ladders and scaffolding • Cut, shape, fit, or join wood or other construction materials • Erect scaffold• Install prefabricated building components• Install siding or sheeting• Clean rooms or work areas• Prepare site or surfaces for concrete or masonry work• Prepare building surfaces for paint, finishes, wallpaper, or adhesives• Apply plaster, stucco or related material• Anchor or brace wooden structures, frameworks, or forms• Repair cracks, defects, or damage in installed building materials• Install insulating materials• Dig holes or trenches for foundations, posts, poles, or related items• Load, unload, or stack containers, materials, or products• Mix mortar, grout, slurry, concrete, or related masonry material• Move materials or goods between work areas• Meet the guidelines of the company’s Drug Free Workplace Policy
