This is a developmental position re-engineered at less than the full performance level for recruitment and training purposes. The duties of the position are similar to those of the target grade GS-0025-05. Performs entry level work with assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the full performance grade level. The work increases in difficulty, complexity, and responsibility as the incumbent gains experience and demonstrates a full comprehension of assigned work.
Job description:
Park Ranger - Hold orientation talks, environmental education programs, and conduct interpretive events. Greet, inform, and direct visitors with regards to project facilities and resources. Educate and assist in the enforcement of project rules, regulations, and safety concerns to gain compliance. Perform operations and maintenance activities related to natural resource management/environmental stewardship. Examples include wildlife habitat, trail and planting bed maintenance, natural resource surveys, etc. Perform operations and maintenance activities related to recreation management. Examples include beach maintenance, recreation area inspections, corrections of deficiencies, water quality sampling, etc. Perform operations and maintenance activities related to flood risk management. Examples include obtaining and reporting weather readings, working on dam slopes, dam tower security checks, etc. Work closely with volunteers regarding all above items.
The Baltimore District headquarters is located at 2 Hopkins Place in Baltimore, Maryland. Centrally located in downtown Baltimore and a short walking distance to the historic Baltimore Inner Harbor and Lexington Market.
