Job description:
PARALEGAL SPECIALIST - In a developmental capacity, serves as the Paralegal Specialist in the Office of Counsel for the Baltimore District exercising discretion and independent judgment in the application of laws, regulations, precedents, and agency practices. Provides legal support to attorneys through legal research, evaluation and analysis and assists with investigation, analysis, and evaluation of claims, protests, appeals and other legal matters arising from various legislative acts (e.g., Competition in Contracting Act, Contract Disputes Act, Equal Employment Opportunity Act, Civilian Personnel Act, Ethics in Government Act, Federal Labor Relations Act, Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Clean Water Act) and regulations. Selects, assembles, summarizes, and compiles substantive information by use of statutes, regulations, orders, digests, commentaries, legal instruments, and other legal reference materials. Monitors judicial and administrative proceedings, drafts litigation and administrative papers and provides support in responding to production and discovery requests under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Assists in case preparation for litigation and analyzes facts and legal questions.
