Job description:
Incumbents in this position assist and participate in performing work involving workplace safety, occupational health, and environmental compliance. The work is performed through the application of knowledge, practices, rules, regulations, and policies related to Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) standards to minimize potential safety and health risks in the workplace. Safety, health, and environmental management (SHEM) programs that the incumbent will work on include: chemical hygiene, confined space entry, compressed gas safety, electrical safety - facility infrastructure and electric vehicle testing, hazardous waste disposal, powered industrial truck, radiation safety, spill prevention, underground storage tanks, universal waste handling, and thermal stress. The incumbent shall assist the Safety Office with:• development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive safety, health, and environmental management (SHEM) programs. • assigning and scheduling training courses to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and record keeping. • investigations into injuries, illnesses, near misses, and occupational safety and health compliance issues; identifies root causes and develops action plans to remedy the issue.• assessment and review of engineering and administrative controls to minimize risks and hazards in the workplace.
Telework is available on a situational basis as determined by management based on business needs. Remote work is not available. Travel is less than 25%. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
