FluxWorks builds magnetic gears - drivetrain technology in which no gear teeth ever touch, so there is no oil and no wear surface. Our hardware goes into defense and space programs under announced Department of War contracts and into commercial robotics and industrial automation.This 61-90 day on-the-job training program places the Service member on the shop floor of a small Conroe, Texas manufacturer as an Electric Motor Shop Technician in training. Over twelve progressive modules the participant learns magnet safety and handling, precision measurement and inspection, rotor and stator assembly, gearbox build and alignment, instrumentation and data acquisition, dynamometer test operation, build documentation and traceability, quality and non-conformance handling, and shop safety and 5S.Training is hands-on and delivered by FluxWorks engineering and operations staff, with a written training plan, module-level learning objectives, and a grading rubric. The participant works alongside the team on hardware that actually ships. This is a shop role: on-site in Conroe every day, not hybrid and not remote.There is no cost to the Service member. FluxWorks is the training provider and the prospective employer.

Job description:

Shop Technician, FluxWorks, Inc., Conroe, Texas - full time, 40 hours per week, on-site.The Shop Technician assembles magnetic gearboxes, rotors and actuators from drawings, work instructions and travelers; handles and installs high-strength permanent magnets safely; takes precision measurements with calipers, micrometers, indicators and bore gauges and inspects parts against print; sets up and runs dynamometer tests including shaft alignment and fixturing; wires and operates instrumentation and data acquisition for test runs; records build and test data and maintains traceability; and keeps the shop organized and safe.Completing the training program does not guarantee employment, but the program is designed as a direct pipeline into this role and the participant is evaluated throughout. Growth paths from this seat include test technician, manufacturing technician, quality, and manufacturing or test engineering support as the company scales.

Open to all ranks and all branches. No degree is required. Trade school, technical certificate, apprenticeship, or a purely military maintenance background are all welcome.The Service member must be able to work on-site in Conroe, Texas for the full duration of the program and must be able to lift and handle shop hardware and work on their feet in a manufacturing environment. Strong permanent magnets are used throughout the shop, which is a consideration for anyone with an implanted medical device.FluxWorks is a United States government contractor and some work is subject to U.S. export control regulations.Selection is by application and an initial phone conversation with FluxWorks operations leadership.
