Artistry, Operations, and Development InternThe Artistry, Operations, and Development Intern is a comprehensive, hands-on training role designed to provide transitioning service members with an immersive experience in nonprofit arts leadership. This position offers cross-functional exposure to artistic programming, chorus operations, conducting development, concert production, and fundraising strategy within a high-level auditioned choral organization.
Job description:
Key Learning Areas & ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Integration- Complete structured onboarding and orientation to fully integrate into organizational culture, systems, and operations.Artistic Operations & Programming- Assist in developing audience-informed concert programming for a full chorus season.- Prepare and verify chorus-facing music materials and rehearsal products.- Participate in weekly sectionals, gaining rehearsal delivery and conducting preparation experience.- Provide rehearsal advisement and structured feedback to artistic leadership.- Develop score study and conducting skills through symposium-style training and mentorship.- Perform alongside the chorus to deepen musical understanding and ensemble awareness.Chorus Systems & Administration- Gain proficiency in chorus management and CRM platforms (e.g., Chorus Connection, Salesforce).- Support database usage for communications, products, and operational needs.Concert & Event Logistics- Assist with venue coordination, contract review, licensing, and concert communications.- Support planning and execution of fundraising events sustaining annual operations.Organizational Strategy- Participate in internal organizational self-assessments.- Contribute observations and recommendations to artistic leadership and board stakeholders.Program OutcomesBy the conclusion of the internship, the participant will have developed:- Practical conducting and rehearsal leadership skills- Experience in season programming and music preparation- Working knowledge of nonprofit arts administration systems- Understanding of concert production logistics and contract processes- Exposure to development strategy and fundraising event execution- Insight into strategic planning and board-level organizational advisement
The office is located in DuPont Circle, 2 blocks from the DuPont Circle Metro. Rehearsals take place at St. Alban's Episcopal Church.
