Summary description:
The overall program will consist of 25 credit hours of college credit from Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) and classes will be conducted Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm in person at the VECTR Center. The overall length of the training is 15 weeks and there will be 3 programs conducted per year. The approximate start dates will be February-June, June-September and October-February. • ORTT 1010 – Orthopedic Anatomy and Physiology – 4 credit hours• ORTT 1020 – Orthopedic Techniques I – 4 credit hours• ORTT 1030 – Intro to Orthopedic surgical Techniques – 4 credit hours• ORTT 1040 – Advanced Orthopedic Anatomy and Physiology – 4 credit hours• ORTT 1050 – Orthopedic Techniques II – 4 credit hours• ORTT 2010- Orthopedic Technology Clinical – 5 credit hours
Job description:
Orthopedic Technology is a healthcare profession focusing on the treatment of the orthopedic patient. A graduate of the orthopedic technology program is proficient in the use of current casting and splinting techniques as well as fitting the patient with orthopedic bracing and equipment. Orthopedic technologists are familiar with up-to-date orthopedic surgical techniques and have the ability to assist the surgeon in the operating room. Students may pursue career opportunities within hospitals, physician offices, medical clinics, orthopedic bracing and equipment companies, and research groups.
Lodging provided by Robins AFB in a contingency dorm at no cost. Single room, shared bath with same gender; therefore, military members cannot be accompanied.Cost of program is paid for using Federal and State Grants such as Georgia Hope Grant, Georgia Career Grant, Pell Grant, and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Grant. Georgia VECTR Center’s programs are designed for service members without transferable skills in the civilian sector. Students with a bachelor’s degree or higher may not qualify for certain financial aid.
