Established in 1902, the Bureau of Reclamation is best known for the dams, powerplants, and canals it constructed in the 17 western states. These water projects led to homesteading and promoted the economic development of the West. Reclamation has constructed more than 600 dams and reservoirs including Hoover Dam on the Colorado River and Grand Coulee on the Columbia River. Today, we are the largest wholesaler of water in the country. We bring water to more than 31 million people, and provide one out of five Western farmers (140,000) with irrigation water for 10 million acres of farmland that produce 60% of the nation's vegetables and 25% of its fruits and nuts. Reclamation is also the second largest producer of hydroelectric power in the United States. Our 53 powerplants annually provide more than 40 billion kilowatt hours generating nearly a billion dollars in power revenues and produce enough electricity to serve 3.5 million homes.
Job description:
Public Affairs Specialist (Web/Digital Communications): The Web Communications Specialist will serve in the Office of Digital Engagement (ODE), Reclamation Office of Communications (ROC). The ODE is responsible for delivering a digital-first public experience that fosters simple to use, seamless online transactions that support Reclamation’s vital mission of delivering water and hydropower to diverse communities across the West. The ODE oversees bureau-wide, strategic planning for web and social media platforms, authors digital products utilizing audience-centered design principles; and supports a growing community of publishers across mobile, social media, and web channels. Duties include: digital product development and web management for Bureau websites and intranets. Developing plans to realize web development component goals and sets milestones to accomplish them to include budget and resources needed.
This position is for the Lakewood, Colorado and/or Washington D.C office.

Specialized experience for authoring web communication products, prior experience using web content management platforms (Drupal, SharePoint, CFML-Based Platforms, etc.), and immediate aptitude to execute basic HTML coding in order to modify web page templates.
