Summary description:
This is an entry level of the Wind Turbine Technicians. Under the guidance of Lead turbine technicians, this position will perform routine scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting of the wind turbines as assigned with a goal of improving uptime and production. The Wind Turbine Technician I will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of the turbines and Balance of Plant (BOP) at Chapman Ranch.
Job description:
Safetyo Adhere to Enbridge safety standards, procedures and safety culture. o Ensure work is completed in accordance with safe work practices, including electrical safety, at heights, control of hazardous energy, confined space, and cargo management. o Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis. o May provide recommendations to higher level technical staff and management regarding everything safety. Encourage and recognize others completing safe acts and intervene when unsafe acts are practiced. Specific Operations and Maintenance Tasks:o As a junior member of the team and under the guidance of Level III/Lead technicians, assigned accountabilities will include:o Support the completion of scheduled / standard work such as regular maintenanceo Support troubleshooting of turbines (basic)o Support the completion of asset integrity inspectionso Support the completion of unscheduled (minor and major) worko Support the electrical switching of turbineso Utilize SCADA to support required worko Support activities related to the Balance of Plant (substation, collector system and switchyard) and civil work, which may include:o Assist with High Voltage electrical switchingo Assist with substation inspectionso Assist with substation maintenance activities (annual maintenance, outages, etc.) Work Execution o Follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, executing plans as directed and perform tasks according to reasonably detailed written and verbal instructions.o Read schematics to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems with variable pitch, speed control systems, and wind turbine componentso Follow basic structured problem-solving processes to complete basic troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks (including the use of diagnostic tools - fluke meter, SCADA information, interpreting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic drawings etc.)o Effectively gather information regarding equipment status. o Seeks assistance when encountering turbine issues outside of trained skill level to ensure success in execution of duties.o Effectively contributes to a strong team environment through assisting other technicians / team members in accomplishing mutual goals, supporting, and promoting a team environment.o Ensure scheduled wind turbine maintenance is conducted safely and achieved on time. Ensure accurate time reporting and completion of Maintenance recordso As required, support other Enbridge operated facilities and their maintenance requirementsContinuous Improvemento Identify risks and gaps in task execution in the operational environment of a Wind Turbine facility and apply mitigation methods with appropriate oversight.o Participate in the development or improvement of procedures and service best practices in the field.o Proactively look for continuous improvement opportunities to job related processes and procedures and communicates these to site management. Attend all On the Job Training (OJT)o Attend all training + development programs related to the technicians' work stream (ex. Borescope training). Other Responsibilitieso Conduct tests and interact with people in demanding and time sensitive work environments.o As required, assist with completion of investigations (technical or safety) and any subsequent reporting obligations. Interact with on a daily basis and perform data entry in the Maintenance Management System (Maximo)
