Legal Assistant :The purpose of this position is to provide oversight, distribution, accountability, maintenance and storage of correspondence records, maps, printouts, and exhibits for serialized case files for the adjudication of Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, Statehood Act, and Dingell Act land claims for transfer (conveyance) of Federally managed lands to Alaska Native Village and Regional Corporations, the State of Alaska, and eligible Alaska Native Veterans.
Job description:
Intern assists land law examiners conducting extensive searches of records, reference, or historical material and processes all case type documents generated by employees in the division as assigned. Applies the laws, regulations and guidance pertaining to records management/administration, including the creation, maintenance, and final disposition of records. Sends correspondence and records which have been found to be deficient/problematic back to the adjudicator for correction prior to finalization of the final package.
Located at Bureau of Land Management - Alaska State Office. U.S. Citizenship is required. You cannot hold an active real estate license; nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Lands. Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.
