Job Summary:We are seeking a Forklift Technician (Shop) to join our team! This position requires knowledge of general material handling equipment. The Forklift Technician (Shop) must be capable of trouble shooting and providing repairs on an as-needed basis. It is essential for the Forklift Technician (Shop) to possess good knowledge of parts and the ability to determine if a part needs to be replaced or repaired. In addition, the Forklift Technician (Shop) must be able to write clear job recommendations and descriptions as well as ensure all paperwork is completed and given to department Supervisor in a timely manner.Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Repair gasoline, LPG, electric or diesel-powered forklifts.• Make repairs as needed including replacing worn or broken parts, adjusting brakes, tightening body bolts, aligning wheels, etc…• Lubricate vehicle and perform other duties in connection with maintenance and operation of lift truck, as required.• Perform manual labor, as needed, such as heavy lifting and operating power equipment.• Inform Supervisor of maintenance problems as they arise.• Complete paperwork, as needed, to open and/or close work orders.• Attend technical classes/training when offered by Management.• Practice safe work habits.• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Required Skills and Abilities:• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.• Ability to work with multiple departments and prioritize activities.• Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization in a team environment.• Ability to read, write, and speak in English.• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.• Ability to lift 50 lbs., unaided.• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, escalate, and follow-up.• Ability to take direction well, adhering to expected or requested directives.• Ability to work overtime, as needed and approved.• Must be reliable, professional, customer service focused, and possess good attitude.• Must be punctual to work and when returning from meal period(s) and rest break(s) with a full adherence to set work shift schedule.• Demonstrated attention to detail.• Demonstrated customer service skills, inclusive of aptitude and attitude.• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and communication skills.Education and Experience:• High school diploma or equivalent (GED), required.• One (1) to three (3) years' previous equipment, material handling, or automotive experience, preferred.• Forklift maintenance experience, preferred.• Previous equipment, material handling, or automotive experience, preferred.Physical Requirements:• Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.• Must be able to physically operate power machinery, use hand tools, use air compressor tools, band saw and department grinder, steam cleaner, and parts washer machines,• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times, unaided.• Must be able to physically listen, speak and interact with other Company associates, vendors, and customers regarding Service department needs.• Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and follow direction.Competencies:• Communication: Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally and in written form.
