The Calibration Technician SkillBridge Participant will engage in a structured, hands-on training program designed to build technical competency in calibration and metrology within a professional laboratory and field service environment. Participants will develop proficiency in performing routine calibrations on a variety of measurement and test equipment in accordance with documented procedures, applicable industry standards, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and technical leadership, participants will progressively learn to execute standard calibration tasks, properly document calibration data, and understand traceability and quality requirements. The program emphasizes accuracy, reliability, and consistency of results while reinforcing best practices for technical documentation and quality system adherence. Throughout the training period, participants will gain exposure to both in-lab and customer-site calibration activities, observe customer interactions, and learn how internal teams collaborate to support scheduling, quality review, and service delivery. SkillBridge participants will also take part in cross-training activities to broaden their technical knowledge across multiple measurement disciplines. This opportunity is intended for service members with a foundational understanding of technical or mechanical principles who are transitioning from military service and seeking to apply their skills in a regulated, quality-driven technical environment. The program prepares participants for potential post-transition employment by developing job-ready competencies while maintaining a clear focus on learning, mentorship, and professional development.
Job description:
The SkillBridge Calibration Technician trainee learns to inspect, test, calibrate, and certify precision tools and measurement equipment used in aerospace, manufacturing, and industrial operations. Participants gain hands-on technical training while working alongside experienced technicians in both laboratory and field environments.Responsibilities include performing measurements, following technical procedures, troubleshooting equipment, documenting results, and supporting quality and safety standards.Training develops transferable skills aligned with military experience, including preventive maintenance, electronics/mechanical systems, technical documentation, problem solving, attention to detail, and mission-focused teamwork.This program prepares service members for full-time employment as a Calibration Technician.
