The Boiler Operator Internship includes the following components: 1) An orientation and introduction to boiler operations; 2) Core maintenance skills development; 3) Specialized training in advanced systems; and 4) A comprehensive summary, evaluation and career path discussion.

Boiler Operator: Under the supervision of the Boiler Shop Supervisor or his designated alternate, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all boilers and associated equipment. Operate high pressure steam and hot water boilers, pumps, valves, regulators, steam traps, pipefitting, cleaning and painting. Contribute to a team effort and harmonious working relationship with others in the Engineering and Facilities Department and throughout MUSC. Maintain continuity between individual job assignments. Perform work in a most efficient and safe manner. Perform related and non-related duties as required by the Boiler Supervisor.
