The Quality Control Technician SkillBridge Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting Clayco's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program while working alongside experienced Quality Managers and project teams. This role is intended for approved active-duty military SkillBridge internship candidates. The intern will assist with quality inspections, documentation, testing coordination, and quality reporting to help ensure construction activities meet project specifications and Clayco's quality standards. The Quality Control Technician SkillBridge Intern will collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders while developing a strong understanding of quality management processes in commercial construction. Additionally, the Quality Control Technician SkillBridge Intern is expected to work diligently to educate themselves through mentorship from Clayco Quality Managers and Operations leadership to prepare for a career in construction quality management.
Job description:
Work closely with the project Quality Manager and Superintendent to support implementation of the project's Quality Control program while coordinating, documenting, and tracking preparatory, initial, and follow-up quality inspections. Participate in weekly QC meetings with project leadership, documenting meeting outcomes and action items, and support the preparation and maintenance of daily QC reports and other quality documentation to verify work is completed in accordance with project requirements. Verify that materials delivered to the project conform to approved submittals, are properly handled and stored, and are suitable for installation. Participate in pre-construction quality meetings with subcontractors and project leadership prior to the start of new phases of work, help identify, document, and track construction deficiencies, and support the timely implementation and verification of corrective actions. Coordinate and document testing and commissioning activities for building systems, assist with reviewing and organizing test results, and maintain project quality documentation, including as-built drawings and related records. Develop an understanding of quality assurance, construction methods, project documentation, and field operations through direct mentorship from Clayco Quality Managers and project leadership.
The internship opportunities are project-based and may be located anywhere within the United States. While each SkillBridge internship will be completed at a single project location, candidates should be willing to travel and/or relocate if offered full-time employment upon successful completion of the internship.Please include a resume with your application and indicate your preferred internship availability dates. Active-duty military members approved to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program are encouraged to apply. A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent military experience is preferred, along with previous leadership experience in the military, construction industry, or other relevant environments. Candidates should have a strong interest in pursuing a career in construction quality management, field operations, or project management, with knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively with project teams, management, owners, trades, subcontractors, and other stakeholders while balancing and prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate effectively in a professional environment, a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and above-average proficiency with technology and related resources are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong work ethic and be willing to travel and/or relocate if a full-time offer is extended upon successful completion of the SkillBridge internship. Physical requirements include the ability to walk unlevel terrain and active job sites several times per day, climb scaffolding and temporary stairs multiple stories high, and work regularly in areas with elevated noise levels. Successful candidates will be motivated, hardworking, team-oriented, and eager to learn.
