Summary description:
Penn State’s National Security Institute seeks motivated, talented transitioning servicemembers to participate in a project management internship program. Several projects are available depending on the candidates’ qualifications and interests. The highest priority project is in support of the Regional Intergovernmental Support Agreement (R-IGSA) between the US Army and Penn State. Participants will support Penn State’s efforts to provide environmental, architecture, acquisition, and engineering support to US Army facilities in the Northeast Region.
Job description:
Identify possible projects at Army depot facilities in the Northeast region through detailed discussions with US Army personnel in accordance with the recently signed ARMY Regional Intergovernmental Support Agreement (R-IGSA) with Penn State. Evaluate expertise needed and resource requirements including personnel and costs for each project. Work with Penn State faculty and students to form the appropriate team for each project. Develop and maintain program management plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies. Monitor projects and ensure milestones and deliverables are met on time. Coordinate activities across multiple projects to optimize resource efficiency. Evaluate program performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions. Report progress to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
The internship may require travel to US Army facilities in the Northeast Region

Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force
Requirements include: Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Past success collaborating in a multi-disciplinary team environment and at all levels of an organization; Proven ability to provide quality results with minimal supervision; Proven ability writing reports to convey status and metrics to program sponsors; Success presenting to senior level audience. Participants must be US citizens. An active security clearance of Secret or higher is preferred but not required.
