Job description:
Maritime Security Specialist - Boat Operator/Maintainer: Join Blue Origin's Maritime Security team to provide critical near-shore and port area security for New Glenn launch operations, landing platform vessel returns, and dock-side activities ensuring safe human spaceflight. As a SkillBridge intern, you will safely operate and navigate security vessels off Cape Canaveral and in port during various environmental conditions, conduct basic maintenance and repair of Blue Origin security vessels, trailers, and equipment to ensure operational readiness, effectively communicate with the maritime community in person and via VHF marine radio regarding launch hazard areas, track vessels using radar, AIS, and navigation equipment to monitor proximity to hazard areas, operate trucks with trailers to launch and recover security vessels, conduct tender craft duties supporting the landing platform vessel, liaise with maritime partner agencies for mission planning, and engage with the local boating community to explain exclusionary zones. This role requires flexibility to support launch operations including occasional evenings, nights, or weekends, and the ability to carry 20 pounds of gear and stand for extended periods in a moving environment.

Desired Qualifications: 2+ years maritime security, law enforcement, or military boat operations experience; Credentialed as Operator of Non-Inspected Passenger Vessel or equivalent; Experience with marine radar, VHF radio, and AIS systems; Valid driver's license and ability to obtain TWIC and DBIDS; DOT medical examiner certification eligible; NASBLA Tactical Coxswain Course, SMTC, or FLETC graduation preferred.
