Program Analyst

National Security Technology Accelerator
DC
Summary description:
The Program Analyst SkillBridge training program prepares transitioning service members for entry-level work in NSTXL’s Program Management Division by moving them from foundational program support into supervised project execution support. Participants build foundational project and program management capability through guided instruction, mentoring, observation, self-paced learning, and applied on-the-job experience. Throughout the program, participants develop capabilities aligned to Project Management Institute (PMI) recognized project management practice through applied learning across the Focus Areas of Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing, with emphasis on Governance, Schedule, Finance, Stakeholders, and Risk Performance Domains. Participants use Salesforce and related internal systems throughout the program to maintain records, track project activity, support reporting, and improve decision visibility. In parallel, they progress through a Salesforce Military trail of their choice aligned to their certification goal, role-related system proficiency, and long-term professional development. The program also gives participants cross-functional exposure to Contracts, Finance, and Marketing and progressively builds their ability to support internal coordination, performer and industry partner engagement, reporting, and execution across NSTXL’s operating environment. Participants receive weekly one-on-one mentor check-ins with their assigned Program Management Division mentor, who is PMP certified and experienced in project execution oversight, stakeholder coordination, and reporting. At each phase gate, the mentor conducts a developmental review covering progress against exit criteria, areas of strength, and focus areas for the next phase. The program follows a six-phase developmental path that builds responsibility over time. Early phases establish the participant’s working environment, professional expectations, systems access, and foundational project management knowledge. Later phases expand that foundation through recurring program support, project-specific execution support, stakeholder coordination, analysis, reporting, and supervised engagement with internal and external stakeholders. In the final phase, participants are expected to track and document key aspects of assigned projects, support project health and funding analysis, deliver supervised executive-level briefings to external stakeholders, and begin preparation for or schedule their chosen Salesforce certification exam. When readiness and project timing permit, the program may culminate in a supervised capstone in which the participant coordinates and leads a project kickoff meeting and presentation. If project timing does not permit a live kickoff, the participant may complete an equivalent mock kickoff presentation for the Program Management Division as an alternate capstone assessment.
