    At First Student, the SkillBridge Technician Trainee program is expected to be a short-term transitional program providing work assignments and training opportunities to prepare program participants for a seamless transition into a full-time mechanic position within our organization after completion. Mechanics at First Student are vital to the everyday operation of the company and play a key role in ensuring that we are living up to our values.
    Job description:
    The SkillBridge associates in First Student’s technician training program perform all customary preventative and scheduled maintenance functions associated with the company fleet. SkillBridge partners also maintain records for the purpose of costing, inventory control, scheduling, and tracking of equipment maintenance. Program participants will take direction, guidance, and training from the mechanic.Other responsibilities assigned to program participants include: • Performing brake, safety, and emissions inspections. • Performing emergency road breakdown repairs• Inspecting and repairing wheelchair and other ramps, hoisting, or lifting devices.• Tracking work order progress in Infor.
