The participant will develop the technical, leadership, and quality management competencies required to perform as a quality control manager within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. Through structured exposure to quality systems, AS9100 compliance, audit management, corrective action processes, personal supervision, continuous improvement initiatives, and laser peening operations, the participant will gain practical experience, leading quality functions, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. By the conclusion of the internship, the participant will be prepared to contribute effectively to quality leadership activities with increasing levels of independence and responsibility.
Job description:
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining all quality assurance and quality control activities within the Surface Technologies manufacturing environment, with a specialization in the laser peening process. This position serves as the facility's quality authority, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, industry, and internal quality requirements. The Quality Control Manager oversees and leads the Quality Management System, leads internal and external audit activities, manages corrective action programs, supervises quality personnel across multiple locations, and collaborates with engineering and production teams to drive process excellence, continuous improvement, and operational compliance. Technical expertise – ability to learn and understand the coating and laser peening process and work with engineers and the production team.Experience with AS9100 audits.2-4 years of experience in Quality Management4-6 years of management experience.Must be a U.S. Citizen.Must pass a standard eye examination. Near vision: Snellen 14/18 or better (20/25 or better, Jaeger Type 2 at 14 inches or greater, Ortho Rater 8 or equivalent).Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.PreferredExperience with DCMA -8210.Experience with special processes.
