Defined Tasks and Schedule of events for Mechanical Education (this is emphasized through week 2 - 7 but this training will continue throughout the 12-week course)• 0700-1000 General Mechanical Skills – Battery replacement, ECM code reader, DPF replacement, Tire replacement, APU service, PM service, and general PMCS.• 1000-1130 Begin to familiarize the intern with process of receiving maintenance tickets for repairs to DVIR’s from professional drivers.• 1230-1330 Release intern to work and observe with a lead mechanic.• 1330-1500 Expect independent showcasing from the intern for skills learned after having already been taught particular skills.• 1500-1600 Daily meeting with the lead and/or maintenance manager to review and answer any questions, debrief on progress and skills learned that day.Mechanical/Driver Interaction – Quick lane along with bay specific repair training.• 0700-1135 Working in tandem with the maintenance lead and/or maintenance manager week, the process training will go into depth of daily tasks to include inventory management, asset availability, road safety and professionalism with professional drivers’ interaction. This will give the intern a broad familiarity into career progression and promotion within the company as well. • 1300- 1600 This training will go beyond just one mechanic. Instead, it will entail coordination at the beginning of the day with each of the team members (mechanics) in order to get their plans for the day and correct any of the planning details if needed as for priorities. Again, with extensive supervision and direction.Diagnosing - Training on how to diagnose with information from DVIR or specific information provided by professional drivers.• 0700-1130 Working in tandem with week 12, diagnosing mechanical opportunities using tools like ECM readers is fundamentally important.• 1230-1400 We will begin to create a foundation for how to think through all diagnosis opportunities by trouble shooting diagram charts provided in maintenance facility.• 1400-1600 Intern will be responsible for going through a new job from start to finish that he/she will be supervised in both diagnosing and completing the repair. This includes signing off on repair completed to potentially filing warranty information for service writers.Summary week and career discussion – Evaluate performance of intern and likely offer full time position provided intern meets requirements.• 0800-1600. This will be the final week of the program. We expect the intern to have gained a vast amount of knowledge, skills and abilities which will enable the company to hire him/her with no hesitation. After completion of this 12-week course, there is no doubt the intern will have a basic knowledge of everything he/she must know in order to succeed.
With skills learned in the Armed Forces either by primary MOS, secondary MOS, or by cross training in the maintenance organizations while servicing, Montgomery Transport will accept this training in salary negotiations as recognizable past experience. Once hired, Montgomery Transport will provide technician all OJT opportunities for certification with new equipment for installation by OEM’s.
