Job description:
This great opportunity will build upon your military technical training. By utilizing the Skill Bridge program and with permission granted by your command, you will enter into a 120 day training and mentoring program that will help you transition into a civilian career with us. The first two weeks of this program is an "immersion/orientation" period where you are introduced to the various elements of the automotive business. At the end of these two weeks, you will meet one-on-one with the Service Manager to determine if this is the line of work you are interested in and provides the Service Manager a place to discuss his/her view of your opportunities. Much of the training will be web-based with the occasional classroom course when available. This training is combined with scheduled job shadowing with a senior mentor. Once the 120 day window is complete, your training will continue throughout your career (While you are an employee of Capital Automotive, we pay for your technical training). Specific technician job specialties are numerous and during the 120 Skill Bridge window, you will have the opportunity to learn what you are most interested in. This is a topic you and your Service Manager will discuss to determine the best path for mutual success. Specialties to select from include but are not limited to:- Maintenance and Light Repair- Gas Engine Performance- Gas Engine Repair- Diesel Engine Performance- Diesel Engine Repair- Suspension and Steering- Automatic Transmissions- Manual Transmissions- Powertrain Front and Rear Differentials and 4X4 Systems- Climate Control Systems- Brake System Diagnosis and Repair- Electrical System Diagnosis- Electronic Diagnosis- Electric Vehicle and Hybrid SystemsExpectation is that during the 120 day window, you will obtain 3-4 certifications (At a minimum complete all WBT courses since some classroom courses may not have spaces available during your 120 day window). Classroom courses not available will be completed as soon as they are open and you are enrolled. The following specialties are recommendations and not a requirement before the 120 day SB window is up. Suggested specialties to complete are:- Basic Electrical- Brakes- Climate Control- Suspension and SteeringObjective is that as you gain experience and training, you will be able to:-Verify the customers concern with their vehicle and the associated system involved- Properly diagnose the concern- Execute an affective repair and fix the concern right the first time
This program is open to service members from any duty location. Skillbridge Training and employment is in North Carolina or South Carolina areas, contact me for exact locations.

- Solid background for those with mechanical/technical/technician back grounds while serving and for those with similar personal experience are welcome to apply. Popular MOS' are 91 series in the US Army; 3521, 1341, 2141, 2147, in Marine Corps, and various shipboard/aviation backgrounds in Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force. For personal experience, if you had a solid mechanical/technical background before going into the service, or gained personal skills while serving, you may be interested in returning to that skill/talent so we can still have that conversation to see if this is for you. Must be able to pass a basic drug test.
