Job description:
MAJOR FUNCTION:Performs skilled duties in operating all types of heavy equipment used in site construction and maintenance. Maintains responsibility for safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in complex and difficult construction and maintenance projects. Work is performed with muchindependence and reviewed by job performance checks made at work sites. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Operates backhoe, crane, dragline bulldozer and grading equipment; tows and hauls maintenanceand construction equipment; operates light equipment and vehicles as assigned. • Performs routine daily maintenance on vehicles and equipment. • Rotates among various pieces of equipment within capacity to operate as workload dictates.• Applies knowledge of traffic rules and regulations pertaining to the use of heavy equipment; of the care and safe operation of a wide variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. • Performs assigned tasks with minimum supervision; understands and follows oral and writteninstructions; performs manual tasks when required. • Performs related work as required.
