The SkillBridge Military Fellowship will prepare participants to be considered for a Maintenance Technician - Supply Chain role with Walmart upon completion of the program. This is a temporary SkillBridge training opportunity not to exceed 180 days, with duration aligned to the Service member's approved SkillBridge window. The current program structure is a 12-week fellowship consisting of structured learning, technical exposure, job shadowing, mentorship, and supervised on-the-job training in a Walmart supply chain maintenance environment. Qualified candidates may be interviewed and matched to specific fellowship opportunities and locations based on business requirements, candidate qualifications, technical experience, and location availability. The objective of the program is to provide quality skill development to all participants. While job opportunities may be available after program completion, an offer of full-time employment is not guaranteed.
Job description:
Participants will train as Maintenance Technicians within Walmart's supply chain network. This pathway is designed for transitioning Service members interested in maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, facility systems, material handling systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or related technical fields. Maintenance Technicians support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and reliability of equipment, systems, and facility assets in a Walmart supply chain environment. This may include material handling equipment, conveyor systems, mechanical components, electrical components, dock equipment, building systems, preventive maintenance, work orders, and emergency repair response. Working under the guidance of experienced maintenance leaders and technicians, participants will learn how maintenance teams inspect equipment, identify issues, complete preventive maintenance, respond to equipment failures, document work, support safe operations, and reduce downtime. Training may include exposure to safety procedures, lockout/tagout awareness, personal protective equipment, tool usage, work order systems, preventive maintenance routines, mechanical troubleshooting, electrical troubleshooting, conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and root cause analysis. All primary responsibilities will be assisted or performed under the direct supervision of an experienced technician or maintenance leader. Over the course of the SkillBridge experience, participants will have the opportunity to: Translate military maintenance or technical experience into civilian supply chain maintenance skills. Build role-specific technical capability through training, mentorship, and on-the-job learning. Gain exposure to Walmart's maintenance standards, systems, tools, and processes. Develop a professional network and increase readiness for post-separation employment.
Walmart Inc. is an authorized Department of Defense SkillBridge industry partner supporting transitioning Service members as they prepare to move into the civilian workforce. This SkillBridge opportunity is designed for Service members interested in a career as a Maintenance Technician within Walmart Supply Chain. Participants will gain exposure to Walmart's maintenance environment, tools, processes, safety standards, equipment, work order systems, preventive maintenance routines, and troubleshooting practices through structured learning and hands-on field training. Candidates may be responsible for lodging and travel costs depending on assigned training location, business requirements, and program structure.

Preferred qualifications: Maintenance Technician - Supply Chain candidates should have experience or training in maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, mechanical systems, electrical systems, equipment operation, facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field. Active-Duty Service members of any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply. Senior-level consideration may be available based on applicable industry experience and transferable military background. Participation requires command approval and adherence to all DoD SkillBridge guidelines. Candidates must be eligible to participate within their approved SkillBridge window. Participants are not eligible for compensation from Walmart while on active duty and will continue to receive military pay, allowances, and benefits from the U.S. Government during the SkillBridge period.
