    The Veterans Legal Initiative ('VLI') is a part of the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program ('HVLP') that provides pro bono legal aid services for low-income Veterans and Surviving Spouses of Veterans in Harris County and surrounding counties. The VLI provides legal representation in cases ranging from VA Benefits, Military Service Discharge Upgrades, VA Pension, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Probate, Landlord/Tenant, Bankruptcy, Divorce, Custody, Guardianship, IRS, Social Security, etc. HVLP does not take criminal defense, immigration, or fee-generating cases (such as personal injury).
    Job description:
    An internship in the Veterans Legal Initiative should provide legal training to those interested in pursuing a career in the legal field as a paralegal or attorney.
    Applicants should have either graduated from law school, be currently in law school, applied to attend law school, or be otherwise eligible to attend law school.
