A medical director and/or Department Chairman is a physician executive that oversees a teamor department of same-specialty clinicians (physicians, APP’s, ancillary staff) in a clinicalenvironment with active patient care. The medical director is a clinical provider, and thechairman may still be a clinical provider, actively treating patients and also is the team leader forall administrative and leadership responsibilities.
