Job description:
The successful applicant will join General Sound’s in-house design team drafting system layouts for various low-voltage systems for commercial construction including, but not limited to, fire alarm, sound, mass notification, and security. General Sound utilizes 2D AutoCAD for system layouts, so the applicant should have at least a basic working knowledge of the platform, including the use of basic commands. On-the-job training will be provided to ensure company standards for design and file management are maintained. The successful applicant will be expected to: Produce high-quality CAD drawings based on specifications and company standards Collaborate with Alarm Planning Superintendents throughout the design phase to ensure all aspects of the design meet code and job-specific requirements Participate in design reviews to evaluate design for installation efficiency and standardization Communicate with technicians to confirm and/or modify system design drawings to reflect field changes Prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail
Basic Requirements: Basic 2D AutoCAD skills Ability to function in both a team and individual setting Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of Fire or Building Codes would be beneficial, but is not required
