Through progressive weekly training, participants will develop technical competency, operational independence, and contribute to real-world projects in the Virginia Beach Public Utilities department.
Job description:
Assist and/or troubleshoot and repair electric motors, fans, and lighting systems; and install lighting outlets, switches and receptacles, maintenance and testing of emergency generator and fire alarm systems, receive work order assignments by either oral or written instructions in the tasks of installation, maintenance and repair of electrical power systems to ensure that assigned tasks are accomplished and meet the quality of standards, participate in work involving preventive maintenance, distribution panels and equipment, circuit systems, controls and light fixtures, participate in repairs, installation and maintenance of fire alarms, public address systems, enunciator and other communication systems to ensure proper operation and to prevent equipment failure, and generate work orders and daily log sheets in a neat and orderly fashion.
