Combined with Firefly’s in-space vehicles, such as the Space Utility Vehicle (SUV) and Blue Ghost Lunar Lander, Firefly provides the space industry with a single source for missions from LEO to the surface of the Moon or beyond.SUMMARYComposite technicians manufacture all production and development primary structures, tanks and secondary structures from raw fiber through delivery to the integration line. The Alpha vehicle is the only American all-composite rocket and composites will fundamentally set Firefly above the competitors. This position is located north of Cedar Park, in Briggs, TX.Full training is provided. If you have a passion for learning, strong attention to detail, and the idea of building rockets excites you - then we encourage you to apply.RESPONSIBILITIESPerform all the steps in making aerospace grade composite parts, including but not limited to:Cut carbon using hand tools to high tolerancePerform bonding operations (abrade, clean, prep adhesives, etc)Hand lamination of various materials including (carbon, glass, Kevlar, film adhesives and foam or metallic cores)Perform full vacuum bag cure cycles from running instrumentation, debulking through monitoring oven runsCure materials per mfr specMaterial handling pursuant to AS9100Support con-ops and tooling design meetings for future productsImprove composite operations and product designs with engineeringConstantly improve the fabrication operations and drive efficiency projects from the ground upBASIC QUALIFICATIONSMust have a HS diploma and a minimum of 2 or more years of direct experience demonstrated mechanical aptitude, attention to detailMeticulous craftsmanshipDemonstrated ability to drill and lay out precision holesProficient use of Pneumatic tools, hand tools, Power tools, and Precision measurement instrumentsShop organization and cleanlinessUse of personal protective equipmentFIREFLY AEROSPACE DOD SKILLBRIDGE CRITERIAMust be a current Active Duty ServicememberMust be separating from the Military in 4-12 monthsMust be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge internshipMust be able to complete 40 hours per weekWillingness to learn from others on the jobWill receive an honorable dischargeHas taken any service TAPS/TGPSHas attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 monthsReceived Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThis is a military transitional program that does not provide compensation through Firefly Aerospace. If selected for full-time employment with Firefly Aerospace upon completion of SkillBridge you will be eligible for: base salary rate commensurate with experience.
