Trainees will work alongside sworn officers and professional staff in public safety operations, gaining skills in community engagement, records management, dispatch support, code enforcement, and more. This program prepares participants for a wide range of local government and public service roles.
Job description:
The PSO trainee performs non-sworn duties including assisting with traffic control, supporting patrol operations, data entry and records processing, public interaction during service calls, and exposure to dispatch and emergency communication systems. The trainee will rotate through several divisions and complete a final capstone project or presentation.Duties include:Assisting with vehicle abatement and parking enforcementConducting community outreach or patrol support tasksObserving dispatch communications and CAD operationsProcessing reports, subpoenas, and citations in records divisionLearning basic municipal and code enforcement processes
