Attend the Law Enforcement Academy and become an Arizona Certified Police Officer for the City of Yuma. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, compassion and empathy for others, a high level of integrity, an understanding of how to be an active listener who can navigate difficult situations, and mental agility. Upon successful graduation of the Law Enforcement Academy, and separation from active-duty military, you will be immediately employed by the City of Yuma.

Successful applicants will enter a 21–22-week training period during which they will study legal aspects of law enforcement, defensive tactics, firearms training, law enforcement vehicle operations, de-escalation tactics, investigative skills, interpersonal skills, and much more. At the conclusion of the academy, participants will become Arizona Certified Police Officers, then they will begin employment with the City of Yuma Police Department.
