Summary description:
The Schertz Auto Service SkillBridge program teaches participants how to maintain, and troubleshoot vehicles ranging from small gas engine coupes to big diesel engine trucks. Participants also learn the best practice and safety guidelines to follow in the industry. Participants will be expected to learn the basic function and theory of operation of all major systems found in a typical vehicle.
Job description:
Auto Technicians perform skilled troubleshooting, repair and maintenance on automobiles and light trucks with related duties as required. Auto technicians responsibilities have evolved from simple mechanical repairs to high level technology related work. Today, integrated electronic systems and complex computers regulate vehicles and their performance while on the road. This increasing sophistication of automobiles requires workers who can use computerized shop equipment and work with electronic components while maintaining their skills with traditional hand tools. The technician must have an increasingly broad knowledge of how vehicles' complex components work and interact. Some specifics that you will do are to service auto equipment, inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and other defects on vehicles, which include but not limited to, air conditioning, tune-ups, brake jobs, tire replacement and balancing, steering & suspension, starters, alternators, drive-ability, electrical and electronic diagnosis.
