The participant will learn how to plan, organize, and supervise maintenance work involving pumps, tanks, piping, scrubbers, electrical equipment, production lines, conveyors, and packaging equipment.The participant will also learn how to manage maintenance work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts, contractors, safety requirements, and environmental compliance.Most of the training will be completed through hands-on work with a maintenance or operations mentor.
Job description:
A Maintenance Supervisor or Manager is responsible for making sure equipment is properly maintained and repaired so the facility can operate safely and without unnecessary shutdowns.Job duties may include:• Supervising maintenance employees and contractors• Assigning and prioritizing daily maintenance work• Planning preventive and corrective maintenance• Managing work orders through the computerized maintenance management system, or CMMS• Maintaining pumps, tanks, valves, piping, scrubbers, conveyors, filling equipment, and packaging lines• Reviewing equipment problems and helping determine the cause• Managing maintenance parts, supplies, vendors, and purchase requests• Making sure employees follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures• Coordinating maintenance work with production, operations, engineering, and EHS personnel• Keeping maintenance records needed for inspections and regulatory compliance• Helping reduce equipment failures, production delays, and unplanned downtime• Coaching maintenance employees and leading daily maintenance meetings
Not located on a military installation.

• Be an active-duty service member who is eligible for SkillBridge• Receive approval from their military command• Be within their authorized transition period• Be interested in maintenance, manufacturing, engineering, facilities, or operations• Be willing to work in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment• Be able to follow safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment• Be willing to complete hands-on training
