Summary description:
The Academics Specialist is a subject matter expert on curriculum design, curriculum review, curriculum implementation, and instruction/facilitation and is expected to stay current with training and readiness standards, Mission Essential Tasks List/METL, and emerging concepts.Support a cadre of instructors, ensuring that all instructor activities are in compliance with theMarine Corps Instructional System Design / Systems Approach toTraining and Education (MCISD/SATE) Handbook and the MCIMS Academics SOP. Additionally, the Academics Specialist understands the conceptual, functional, and detailed planning and the development,usage, and analysis of CA/CMO/IO affecting MAGTF operations to support training. The Academic Specialist reports to the Project Manager (PM).
Job description:
- Identify and submit external resource course support requests to the PM.- Mentor/facilitate students through the course materials and practical applications.- Contribute Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and curriculum development support during- Course Content Review Boards.- Ensure completion of tasks related to curriculum events.- Attend faculty development, meetings, and conferences.- Serve as a Primary or Assistant Instructor on related matters- Mentor/facilitate students through the course materials and practical applications.- Develop and maintain master lesson files.- Create and maintain lesson plans and student handouts.- Create and maintain course media and supporting instructional products.- Provide appropriate and knowledgeable instruction in each class presented.- Submit After Instruction Reports for each period of instruction.- Conduct instructor evaluations.- Provide After Action Review comments for each course.- Completes annual training and professional requirements (e.g . MCIMS team training, Cybertraining, etc.)established by the MCIMS and/or PM.- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described- Facilitate T&R Conferences. and assist in developing, maintaining, and revising individual and collectiveT&R Events.- Assist with academic support to semi-annual Operations Assessment Groups (OAG).- Monitor the performance of the instructor cadre by ensuring performance is documented via the InstructorEvaluation Checklist.- Ensure the instructor cadre collects during instruction data (Instructor Rating Forms,- Evaluation Rating Forms, Daily Rating Forms).- Ensure the instructor cadre completes post-instruction requirements (After Instruction- Reports, After Evaluation Reports).- Supervise and monitor testing.
