Job description:
All interns that join the Samsung Austin Semiconductor EHS department will receive training that covers the following items in preparation for a technician role: 1) Semiconductor Manufacturing Overview (eLearning); Safety training for office, fab, and/or construction environments (blended learning) 2a) Additional as needed, EHS Technician, Safety: Administrative Tasks: Intern will be integrated into the EHS Team and will be exposed to • Safety Databases• Excel Spreadsheets • OSHA Recordkeeping • Incident/Injury Management For field coverage: Intern will be exposed to: • Safety hazard identification walks o Intervention o Coaching of employees o Possible stop work conditions• Incident/Near Miss investigations o Interviews o Taking witness statements o Root Cause Analysis o Assigning corrective actions 2b) Additional as needed, EHS Technician, Environmental:• Provide field support for all environmental aspects and impacts.• Conduct field assignments such as: o Environmental compliance audits. o Air, waste and water regulatory inspections. o Field parameter sampling, (air, water, waste) o Risk assessments.• Document and track departmental metrics on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and build reports on operational performance.• Participate in Emergency Response Preparedness scenarios and support the site Emergency Response Team in the event of an incident. Collaborate with Incident Command and support any emergencies with environmental support as needed.• Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate environmental operational risk points with the goal of generating a safer work and more efficient workplace.• Collaborate with other departments on project coordination including step plan review, pre-task plans, work grading and job walks. Oversee emergent project work requiring environmental operational support.
Skills will be measured by evaluation of observed work, skills demonstration, and (short) written exam.
