Job description:
An Acquisitions Manager leads the procurement and sourcing strategy for an organization, managing the purchase of materials, components, services, and subcontracted work needed for operations and contract fulfillment. They negotiate supplier agreements, evaluate vendor capabilities, manage supplier relationships, and ensure purchases comply with cost, quality, delivery, and regulatory requirements including FAR/DFARS flowdowns for government contracts. In defense contracting, they play a critical role in qualifying suppliers to AS9100 or other quality standards, managing the approved supplier list, conducting make-or-buy analyses, and ensuring proper documentation and traceability for all purchased items. They work closely with engineering, quality, and contracts teams to secure competitive pricing while maintaining compliance with Buy American Act requirements, source restrictions, and other government contracting regulations.
