Summary description:
By way of Hands-on Demonstration/On-The-Job Training (OJT), the Criminal Justice Information Directorate (CJID) Specialist candidate will be equipped to provide support in multiple areas: Law Enforcement Records processing, quality control and compliance; Compliance of multiple Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) pertaining to criminal records, Sex Offender Registration, firearm denial, etc.; supporting Criminal Investigation Offices with CJIS issues, compliance, and analysis. Upon successful completion of this program, the candidate will be able to demonstrate comprehension of skillsets through both written and oral communication and work in any of the three main positions within the directorate.
Job description:
• CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS TECHNICIAN: Utilize reporting and tracking systems to conduct criminal history checks, Analyze records to extract specific criminal history data, Prepare memorandums to notify agencies of discrepancies in the submission of fingerprint cards, Process requests for criminal history checks using facsimile, e-mail, electronic message, and letters, Review investigative reports to ensure all forms, information, etc. are correct for submission.• CJIS COMPLIANCE ASSISTANT: Reviewing criminal justice information, conducting qualitative and compliance focused investigative assistance and other related activities in support of criminal investigations conducted by Army Law Enforcement entities. Ensure that data on fingerprint cards is complete and matches the positive identification in the appropriate investigative report, Assist in maintaining liaison with the U.S. Marshal Service National Sex Offender Targeting Center and state, territory, and tribal sex offender registries, Conduct criminal history name checks for the FBI NICS Section and 13 states, Serve as a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) coordinator responsible for the training, testing and certification of NCIC operators, Serve as a Military Protection Order (MPO) compliance assistant responsible for the timely and thorough entry of MPOs issued by Army commanders into the FBI Protection Order File.• CJIS FIELD SPECIALIST: Periodic review of ROI/LER to ensure timely submission and accuracy of biometric identification, Cross-reference arrest cycles in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) with fingerprint card submissions to ensure accuracy and completeness, Review and compare quarterly dashboard reports from the FBI CJIS Division with submissions and dispositions by LE offices, Teach and train LE personnel in CJIS applications and programs, Respond to requests for assistance from Army LE personnel worldwide, Ensure compliance with DoD policies and procedures and the FBI CJIS Division Security Policy for biometrics collection, storage, and use.
