12-week hybrid course that, if successful, culminates in a Range Control Officer certification and an RCO position within our company at one of three Range locations - Yakima (WA), Mountain Home (ID) or White Sands Missile Range (NM).

After completion of the SkillBridge session, the member will be prepared to fill the Range Control Officer (RCO) role. Typical job duties of an RCO include (but are not limited to):o Responsible for range operations and safety, except in situations where weapons release clearance responsibility is transferred to other Weapons Release Authority.o Issue instructions that ensure a safe environment where disparate on-going operational and maintenance activity occur simultaneously.o Coordinate range user activity, develop, brief and publish schedules, inspect and prepare targets for use.o Perform facility and equipment checklists, report outages, maintain logs and collect data.o Assist or supplement personnel in operating WISS Scoring, PITS, vehicle and equipment maintenance, landscaping and housekeeping.o Will be qualified as a Wildland Firefighter II.o Work is performed under minimum supervision or following specific procedures or detailed instructions.o Maintain a close watch over air and ground activity and always be aware to prevent intrusion of unknown aircraft and/or ground personnel.o Obtain and disseminate schedules and other information in a timely manner that allows for safe and efficient range operations.o Brief visitors and on-coming crews at shift change and other times as needed.o Develop, implement, or revise working documents such as range opening and closing checklists, events logs etc., in compliance with management approval, applicable regulations, and operations plans.o Submit official recommendations for changes, if needed, as per regulation or program policy at the outset when changes are required.o Inspect strafe pits, all communications equipment involving RCO operations and the effective operation of the digital voice recorder.o Verify all checklist items are ready for action and report equipment outages to the appropriate personnel and management.o Document in detailed descriptive word picture without abbreviation, the movement of aircraft, ground personnel, emergencies, deliveries, equipment outages, accidents, visitors and their intentions and any unusual event in the Events log and the RCO log as appropriate.o Document range maintenance in the range maintenance log, distribute and file all reports, maintain and make new files as needed.o Must be able to quickly analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for safety and efficiency at any given point in time.

Secret Security Clearance• High School Diploma• RCOs must have experience in at least one of the following areas: o Military experience in the tactical delivery of air-to-ground munitions. o Military or civilian experience in the management, supervision, or control of air operations on a conventional or tactical military range. o Military or civilian experience in the management, supervision, or control of air operations of a military airfield, including fighter or conventional bomber operations. • Able to operate UHF, VHF, FM, LMR and telephonic two-way communications equipment.
