Security Technician Internship with MCA – DoD SkillBridgeThis DoD SkillBridge internship provides transitioning service members with hands-on experience installing and supporting physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and other low-voltage technologies. Interns will work alongside experienced technicians to assist with device installation, cabling, system testing, and basic troubleshooting while supporting the safety and security of our customers. This program is designed to build practical, transferable skills and prepare participants for a civilian career as a Security Technician.

Security Technician Internship – DoD SkillBridgeWhat You Will Be Doing- Assist with the installation and servicing of physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and other low-voltage systems.- Support experienced technicians and project teams on active job sites.- Help with device mounting, headend equipment, cabling, labeling, and basic network connectivity.- Perform system testing, verification, and basic troubleshooting under supervision.- Follow safety procedures, quality standards, and customer site requirements.- Work both independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks on time and with quality results.- Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors as needed on job sites.What You Will Bring to the Team- Eligibility for the DoD SkillBridge Program (active-duty transitioning service member).- Strong interest in a civilian career in physical security, low-voltage systems, or electronics.- Mechanical and technical aptitude; ability to learn new systems and tools.- Basic understanding of electrical, electronic, or IT concepts (formal experience not required).- Ability to read and follow basic diagrams, drawings, or instructions.- Comfortable using hand and power tools or willing to learn.- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.- Ability to work on job sites and comply with background or licensing requirements, as applicable.Preferred / Nice to Have- Prior military experience related to electronics, communications, IT, or security systems.- Coursework or training in Electronics, IT, Networking, or a related field.- Exposure to access control, CCTV, intrusion systems, or low-voltage installations.- Manufacturer training or certifications (or willingness to pursue).- OSHA 10/30 or willingness to obtain during the internship.Program Outcomes- Hands-on technical experience in enterprise-level physical security systems.- Exposure to civilian job sites, project workflows, and customer environments.- Development of skills that prepare participants for a full-time Security Technician role following separation.
