Candidates for this and every DoD SkillBridge internship opportunity with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are able to intern for 180, 120, and 90 days and MUST be at least 11 MONTHS away from (outside of) separation. Why 11 months? We are able to host SkillBridge interns for their final 180, 120, and/or 90 days on active-duty depending on the individual service-member’s situation. We use the time prior to their finite internship dates to complete our required HR actions to include getting them in front of hiring managers, having interviews conducted, selection decisions being made, “Qualifications Reviews” successfully completed on their resumes clearly demonstrating that they have the required experience, etc. for the positions for which they are being considered, along with a 3 to 5 month (on average) full CBP Background Investigation (BI) that MUST be completed prior to internship start dates.MAJOR DUTIESProviding workforce planning and staffing analysis services to assigned organizations within OFAM, which includes planning, scheduling, and conducting projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency; •Serving as an advisor to management on workforce analysis and process improvement efforts to ensure that workforce planning goals and objectives are met in regard to staffing levels, attrition rates, and progress toward executing OFAM's hiring plan; •Serving as a Liaison with the CBP, Office of Human Resources Management Hiring Center for all recruitment activities, tracking and analyzing position management through forecasting and gap-analysis so that positions are recruited effectively; •Advising on workforce planning and management strategies, including reassignments, details, and temporary promotions, to meet staffing requirements; and •Working with co-workers and workforce planning and management professionals to identify potential program initiatives or special projects that could improve efficiency, effectiveness, or productivity in the workforce.
