If location is not within commutable distance from the installation, service member must have command approval to travel and participate in the program. Fiserv does not provide compensation for travel, lodging, and per-diem while service member participates in the SkillBridge program. The opportunity is an 18-week, in-person training program. Participating service members will work 5 days or 40 hours per week. Service members who pass the SkillBridge training and testing requirements for Data Center Operations Engineer, will be offered a full-time position IF POSITION IS AVAILABLE. Week 1 – Orientation Learning Objectives- Learn the Business / Get the Tools: Trainee is familiarized with the Fiserv facility, policies and procedures, and has physical access to the facility and all required tools and resources needed for the program. Week 2- Introduction to the Data Center Learning Objectives- Trainee will begin administrative work to build an understanding of the logical representation withing our Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system. Week 3 – 6 – Introduction to Service Management Tools Learning Objectives- Trainee will continue to learn administrative tools used in the daily operations role of the Data Center Technician. Week 7 – 9 – Rack and Stack Learning Objectives- Trainee will now apply logical practice into physical execution and learn how to rack and stack IT hardware in the Computer Room within the Data Center. Week 10 – 12 – Cable Training Learning Objectives- Trainee will now apply logical practice into physical execution and learn how to patch, run, manage, and document the low voltage cable infrastructure across the Computer Room within the Data Center. Week 13 – Critical Infrastructure Training Learning Objectives- Trainee will work with the Critical Infrastructure team to build a general understanding of the Electrical and Mechanical infrastructure running the Data Center. Week 14 – 16 – Put it all into Practice – Right Seat / Left Seat Learning Objectives- Working with Direct supervision, the Trainee will drive work from initial request through work order completion. Week 17-18 Independent work Learning Objectives- Trainee will be assigned to a shift and will work on their own. Assistance will be available if needed, however this will be their opportunity to operate without supervision.
Job description:
A Data Center Operations Engineer will be at the heart of our mission-critical operations, managing and installing IT hardware in a fast-paced environment. The role will involve mapping out hardware installations, monitoring rack and power configurations, and responding promptly to critical incidents to ensure the firm's success. This role is responsible for racking and stacking IT hardware, including servers, switches, and other appliances, as well as cabling the IT hardware according to the cable install matrix and Fiserv governance. Other duties include investigating configurations before change execution and working closely with the critical facilities team to coordinate power activities, ensuring uninterrupted service and maintaining our 100% uptime requirements. This position operates in a 24x7 environment where immediate response to issues is essential.
