Director, Global Fleet & Equipment OperationsJob Summary:This role will oversee and maintain the company’s US and Canada fleet of cars, trucks, and specialized equipment operations. The Director is responsible for planning, utilization, replacement, and remarketing of the company’s assets as well as oversight of the company’s equipment procurement activities, preventative maintenance, repair/replacement, and safety assurance. This role is a key collaborator with internal and external business partners in developing and evolving a portfolio of vehicle and equipment specifications that enables optimal business performance.Supervisory Responsibilities:• Oversees or delegates responsibility for the day-to-day workflow to the department managers and staff.• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy and state and federal guidelines. Duties/Responsibilities:• Directs the company equipment management including procurement activities, preventative maintenance, repair/replacement, and safety assurance.• Documents and tracks equipment performance through the product lifetime.• This role is a key collaborator with internal and external business partners in developing and evolving a portfolio of vehicle specifications that enables optimal business performance.• Provide fleet procurement guidance and develop strategies to drive cost-savings and asset optimization across the fleet program.• Determine strategic objectives for right-sizing & balancing fleet assets across the network.• Develop centralized rental management strategy to drive profitable ROI where rentals are needed and communicate the business case and associated outcomes to field personnel.• Lead all fleet related procurement activities, including vehicle specification development and refinement in coordination with business leaders, to enable optimal business outcomes.• This position will also manage all equipment, including purchases, repairs, maintenance, service/PMs, GPS systems, and sales, to include: • Company pickups and trucks • Heavy equipment, such as excavators, skid steers, motor graders, loaders, back hoes, dozers, rollers, and pavers.• The position will also manage all gas and fuel purchases for all company vehicles. • Develops schedules and procedures for and ensures adherence to routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the company’s fleet.• Collaborates with supervisors and staff to manage and reduce expenses such as those for fuel and labor costs.• Establishes a schedule for recommended replacement of fleet vehicles.• Drafts and presents reports on department operations and expenses.• Prepares and implements departmental budget.• As the Head of Fleet Operations, you will provide strategic direction, monitor the performance of individuals, and identify areas for training and development, while maintaining an incident-free safety culture across all operational sites in US and Canada• Identify key areas of inefficiency, work cross-functionally to establish best practices, and create & implement Standard Operating Procedures• Develops and enforces procedures, policies, and safety protocols for all fleet services staff.• Performs other related duties as required.Required Skills/Abilities: • Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and, and heavy equipment operations.• Strong Leadership ability: Must demonstrate qualities of action-oriented leadership, administrative ability, and public relations skills.• Strong verbal and written communication skills which allow for cross-function collaboration.• Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses.• Ability to work in a global fast-paced environment.• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.• Excellent customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate complex issues to diverse audiences.• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Education and Experience:• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.• A minimum of ten years of management experience.• Complete understanding of DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.• Valid driver’s license.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role.
